Speech and hearing-impaired customers in the U.S. can easily communicate with CHP by using a relay operator.  To do so, you should use your TTY or dial 711 on your telephone; you will automatically be connected to a Telecommunications Relay Services (TRS) operator.  At that time, you should provide the operator with the appropriate CHP office number to be connected with us during our standard business hours of 8:00 am – 5:00 pm Monday through Friday, Eastern Standard Time. The operator will then serve as a link for the call, relaying your text in voice to CHP, and converting to text what CHP voices back to you.
