Our Impact

Community Impact Report

Dear Friends,

Every year, Community Housing Partners (CHP) makes a positive impact on communities across our six-state portfolio—and 2019 was no different. More than 34,000 people benefited from our work to create stable homes, revitalize communities, and promote a healthier, more energy efficient planet for future generations.

We are now entering the final stretch in implementing our 2018-2020 Strategic Plan, which focuses on our customers, our employees, our environment, and our desire to expand our impact. Since adopting this plan, we have used it to guide our efforts and focus on what matters the most to us around four key goals:

  • Optimize positive health and quality of life outcomes for our customers by providing healthy homes and quality of life enhancing services to our customers.
  • Be an employer of choice by investing in the success and professional development of every employee.
  • Adopt operational practices that reduce our environmental impact by reducing energy and water use in our offices and the homes we build, renovate, and own.
  • Balance profitability and asset quality to advance CHP’s mission by generating net income to invest in sustainable growth and expanded impact.

We now invite you to explore the visuals and stories within this report about our progress on accomplishing these goals. Our impact is best told through the perspective of the residents, clients, and employees whose lives have been touched by our work. We are honored to have played a role in the lives of these individuals, and we thank you for your ongoing support.

Transforming Lives

Teamwork in Action

When CHP Weatherization team members first visited the home of William Adams, they knew that they needed to collaborate with others to find Adams a new place to live. CHP Property Management sprang into action to find Adams a new home at Hunting Hills Apartments in Blacksburg, Virginia, while CHP Homeownership came up with a plan for selling Adams’ old home. “I feel more safe living where I am now,” Adams said. “I appreciate all the help they gave me.”

A Community Transformation

CHP has a track record of turning its apartment buildings into vibrant, sustainable communities, but the renovations at J. Van Story Branch Apartments in Baltimore, Maryland have been ambitious even by CHP’s standards. Now that the development team is nearing the finish line, the extent of the community transformation is already taking shape.
