In 2023, the dedication and hard work of CHP’s Resident Services team continued to spread cheer, reaching seniors in CHP rental communities through the Warm Wishes and Giving Tree initiatives. Building upon the success of previous years, these programs brightened the holiday season for those who often feel overlooked.
The Warm Wishes program expanded its reach, serving 352 residents throughout Virginia, surpassing the achievements of 2022. This initiative, offering gift bags valued at around $30 each, resonated with the CHP community, resulting in 105 residents being “adopted.” Through the collaborative effort of staff donations, online donors, and the commitment of 13 employee elves, each resident’s wishes were granted. In Baltimore, Maryland, the Giving Tree program reached out to 498 residents in its first year, offering them the choice between indoor and outdoor warmth bags. CHP’s Real Estate Development team volunteered to pack these bags with high-quality items, ensuring that participants will have comfort during the winter season. Although Giving Tree was originally intended for Baltimore, the generosity of last-minute donations allowed the project to expand its reach to seniors at three CHP apartment communities in Yorktown, Virginia. In total, the Warm Wishes and Giving Tree projects raised approximately $8,000, thanks to the generosity of donors and sponsors. These funds facilitated the fulfillment of wishes and the creation of warmth bags, spreading comfort to those in need during the winter season. The next Warm Wishes and Giving Tree campaigns will kick off in October 2024.
