After months of hard work and dedication, the CHP Resident Services Warm Wishes program successfully spread cheer to seniors at CHP rental communities in 2022. The program offers gift bags, valued at around $30 each, for CHP residents during the holiday season. Out of the 267 residents that signed up for the program, 125 were directly adopted. Thanks to CHP staff donations and other donors from the CHP website, enough funds were raised to buy gifts for the remaining 142 residents. Every resident received a gift bag full of items that were carefully chosen to bring joy and comfort to their lives.

CHP volunteers, or “elves,” from all around Virginia put their best foot forward to help. A total of 25 elves worked either on their own or in teams, allowing for efficient and successful shopping experiences. Stacy Taylor, Resident Services Program Developer, praised the Southwest Virginia elves, saying that “they made everything so much easier for us, especially on packaging day.” The elves also took it one step further by delivering gift bags and tissue paper for gift wrapping. “I was amazed at the level of care they put into selecting gifts,” Taylor continued. “One elf went shopping on different days to find the best deals so our residents could get the most for the funds allotted to them. The elves made Warm Wishes 2022 one of the best years for the program.”(Learn more about Warm Wishes 2022.)

Many seniors living in CHP’s communities struggle to meet their needs are often left out during the holiday season when gifts and goodies are typically distributed to children. Warm Wishes helps seniors feel included and cherished in their communities. The next Warm Wishes campaign will kick off in October.
