As the holiday season approaches, Community Housing Partners (CHP) is once again launching initiatives to spread warmth and joy to senior residents in Virginia and Maryland. This year, the Warm Wishes and Giving Tree programs are back, bringing essential items and gifts to those in need and encouraging a sense of community and care during the colder months.
The 2024 Warm Wishes program will provide festive gift bags valued at around $30 each to seniors, aged 55 and up, and adult residents with special needs, at 25 apartment communities across Virginia. In addition, the Giving Tree program, which started last year, will continue to support senior residents at two Baltimore communities. This initiative focuses on collecting cold-weather essentials like thermal underwear, blankets, and non-slip socks to ensure everyone stays cozy throughout the winter.
The Giving Tree program is particularly exciting this year, as it has already been fully funded for 2024, ensuring that all senior residents at the two Baltimore communities will receive the cold-weather essentials they need. However, CHP is calling on community members, businesses, and organizations to contribute to the Warm Wishes program. Donations of gifts or monetary support will be accepted until Nov. 30, with distributions occurring throughout the month of December. To learn more or participate, you can visit the Warm Wishes webpage.
This year, more than 800 seniors are eligible for Warm Wishes, and over 450 are eligible for the Giving Tree. In 2023, the generosity of donors and volunteers allowed CHP to serve 958 senior and special needs residents, raising over $8,000.
CHP extends a special thanks to its employees, who began donating to the programs in August, and now invites the community to join in making this year’s Warm Wishes program a success. Consider making a donation today to help brighten the holidays for seniors in need.
