Weatherizing Mobile Homes Training at CHP Training Center
CHP Energy Solutions Research and Training provides expert training for building professionals to facilitate the creation of healthier, safer, more energy-efficient living and working environments. Our 12,600-square-foot facility serves the training needs of the weatherization and energy efficiency industry workforce, and is one of only twelve legacy national weatherization training centers.
One of the first IREC ACCREDITED TRAINING PROVIDERS in the nation, CHP’s Energy Solutions Research and Training Center provides building science and energy conservation education for weatherization and energy efficiency professionals. Distance e-learning courses and hands-on field mentoring are offered at CHP’s state-of-the-art training center by a team of BPI, RESNET, and EARTHCRAFT certified trainers. The Energy Solutions team also provides inspections and verification services for state weatherization programs and third-party green building credentialing.
The CHP Energy Solutions Research and Training Center was established in 1999 as a division of Community Housing Partners (CHP). The Training Center provides training and research in state-of-the-art single-family and multi-family residential energy conservation techniques and home performance testing, as well as heating and cooling equipment diagnostics, repair and replacement. Our high-quality instruction is offered in the classroom, in the field, or online. Our staff of highly experienced trainers guarantees that you get the skills you need to work in this growing industry.
Our training focuses on home performance using a whole-house approach, with the goal of creating homes that are good for people, good for the environment, and good for business. Technicians are taught practices and techniques that reduce energy consumption, address health and safety concerns, and determine how the building shell, appliances and occupants interact with one another. Detailed curricula and innovative models support these training efforts.
Since its establishment, the Training Center has trained more than 30,000 students across the United States, Canada and Argentina. CHP's expert trainers are certified by RESNET, EARTHCRAFT, and the Building Performance Institute (BPI).
We have presented our research at national conferences, including:
DOE National Weatherization Training
ACI National Home Performance
National Community Action Foundation
National Association for State Community Service Programs
