Please introduce yourself and share a bit about your background in property management.
My name is Becca Meeker and I am the Property Manager for Kippax Place and The Summit Apartments in Hopewell, VA. I have been with CHP since January of 2025 and am so thankful to be a part of this team! The bulk of my career has been in customer service, staffing, and management. Though I am new to Property Management, I find a lot of the skills I have learned along the way are so useful. Still, I learn something new every day and think I always will. Feeling like you’ve found your niche though, or your home, is so satisfying. I have a great team and support system and am excited to see what we can accomplish in the days ahead!
How long have you been managing this property, and what do you enjoy most about managing it?
I started as an Assistant Property Manager in January 2025 and applied for the Manager position when it came open in March. I’ve been PM since April 2025. What I enjoy the most is the people. My introverted self has found a career filled with having to talk to people all day but I love it! I also love setting and accomplishing goals. Seeing improvements to the properties, my residents’ experiences get even more positive, and my team crushing it-such a win!
What makes this property distinctive within the community?
The Summit is a beautiful property with a tight-knit community.
If the property had a personality, how would you describe it in a few words?
Resourceful, inconspicuous, and chill.
What feature or aspect of the property do residents appreciate most?
We have a lot of families on the property and they utilize the playground areas and swing sets daily.
Can you share a moment or piece of feedback that reflects a positive resident experience?
When a resident lost her son last year, the community rallied around her and supported her for days. They helped her not feel alone while she was struggling with great loss.
What’s a tip or creative solution you’ve found helpful for supporting residents?
We brought in the local Police Department for a meeting with residents to talk about certain challenges in the community. Knowing our commitment to the not only the property, but to them as our residents, really made a difference. It also put a face with a name within the PD for residents and broke down some barriers that way.
What do you appreciate most about the surrounding community or neighborhood?
The property is very near a school and a shopping complex with eateries and shopping readily available! Anything you might need is within walking distance.
From your perspective, what makes this property a great place to call home?
The property is beautiful. The units are very nice and family-friendly. The crux, though, is the team from CHP that is there to serve. My team really does care and strives to uphold the vision of CHP every day. All of this together makes for a unique and pleasant experience at The Summit Apartments.
