The Association of Energy Conservation Professionals (AECP), a nonprofit trade association that offers resources and support for Virginia weatherization professionals, recently recognized a staff member at Community Housing Partners with a first-time award and high praise.
Meghan McMillen, Senior Manager of Weatherization Operations at CHP Energy Solutions, received the inaugural Person of the Year Award at the AECP membership meeting in Virginia Beach on June 10. The award honors an individual in the Virginia weatherization network who not only excels in his or her own program but also reaches out and helps other programs whenever needed.
According to the award announcement, McMillen is “well known and respected by all for her willingness to always help and be there if someone has questions.” The announcement adds, “Meghan also has been supportive of AECP and has helped tremendously at many AECP Peer Exchanges as a facilitator and trainer.”
McMillen joined Community Housing Partners in 2009 as an Administrative Operations Coordinator and quickly became the Administrative Operations Manager. She has been in her current position since 2017. McMillen’s responsibilities include oversight of multifamily weatherization program and the Appalachian Power program. She also assists with training at the CHP Energy Solutions Research and Training Center.
“I am very appreciative and grateful for this recognition,” said McMillen, who credits now-retired Vice President of Energy Solutions Bill Beachy with instilling in her a love for the profession. “I help other agencies because I want our Virginia weatherization network to be successful, and we are successful when we share ideas and best practices and serve as a resource for each other.”
During the meeting, AECP also recognized Beverly Deel, Energy Auditor with People, Inc. of Abingdon, Virginia, with the John Langford Memorial Scholarship. Phil Hull, Director of the CHP Energy Solutions Research and Training Center, initiated and developed the scholarship in honor of a long-time weatherization trainer.
