Students are expected to adhere to the following requirements of any training with CHP Energy Solutions Research and Training.

Attendance Requirements for Classes

All students are expected to arrive at least 10 minutes before the scheduled start time of the class and remain in class until the class is released for the day by the instructor. If illness or other emergency shall arise, it is left to the discretion of the instructor to excuse the absence and to help determine a make-up plan for the lessons and related activities that are missed in consultation with the student and the Training Center Manager and Director.

Student conduct and disruptive conduct are noted in the Training Management System, and attendance will be reported to the student’s employer and/or the entity paying for training if requested by the employer and/or said entity. Students must attend 80% of class hours to pass the course.

Excessive tardiness, no-shows, or disruptive conduct will be reported to the student’s employer and/or the entity paying for training at the discretion of the Training Center Director.

Absences or No Shows

Unexcused absences from twenty percent of class time may result in a student being dropped from a class without refund. If the student is not dropped from the class, assigned make-up work must be completed before the student may take the final test(s) and/or receive a certificate of completion or attendance.

CHP Energy Solutions Training Center incurs expenses related to scheduling and preparing for a class and these may be passed on to the client if a class is cancelled without sufficient notice.

CHP Energy Solutions Training Center will attempt to reschedule a class in an effort to provide services to our client base; however, sometimes this may not be feasible, and in such cases, we will make a determination on a refund on a case by case basis in accordance with our Refund and Cancellation Policy.

Students are expected to present themselves in a respectful and professional manner while training with CHP Energy Solutions Training Center, its staff, and other students. Language or behavior which might be offensive to others, especially that which might be considered degrading or potentially constituting harassment is not permitted. Other Prohibited Behaviors

Any of the following infractions will result in a student being dropped from a class and asked to leave the premises immediately and may lead to criminal prosecution: possession of illegal drugs; possession of weapons or firearms, including permitted, concealed-carry firearms; making verbal threats; fighting; or theft. The Training Center Director will also contact the student’s employer.

Retesting Policy

The following retesting policy applies to all CHP Energy Solutions Research and Training courses, unless otherwise specified.

In-person Class Re-tests

If a student fails any final test for an instructor-led class, they shall be permitted a maximum of 2 additional attempts at the test. Re-testing is administered no earlier than the following week (Monday-Friday) after the previous test. The student is required to apply for the retest. All testing conditions and criteria from the original test also apply to any retest, such as time limits and physical requirements of the testing environment. There are fees associated with retesting. Retest attempts must be completed within 6 months of the initial test. If at any time significant changes are made to the class, the student may be required to retake the course curriculum. Extensions to the 6-month period may be permitted at the discretion of the Training Center Director.

If a student has attempted a test 3 times without passing, the student shall not be permitted to take the test again until he or she has retaken the course that corresponds to the test in question or has taken other relevant training as approved by the Training Center Manager and/or the Training Center Director. Examples of relevant training include review courses or field mentoring.

Request for Testing Results

During the event of an unsuccessful attempt at a written or hands-on assessment, students enrolled in CHP Training Center courses will be allowed the opportunity to request a custom report on subject matter areas in which they are lacking and need improvement. This report will contain broad subject areas, diagnostic testing protocols or equations related to the content surrounding the weakness and will not address specifics regarding the actual content of the exam. The students will need to provide a verbal or written request to the Training Center Manager. In the event the Training Center Manager is unavailable, the report may be generated by the Training Center Director. Requests will be handled in a timely fashion but will not be available until the class has been processed by the Administrative Operations Coordinator.

Online Course Retakes

If a student fails any final test for an online course, the student must apply for the course again to retake the test. The student may apply for the course immediately, but it may take up to 48 hours to process the application and enroll the student again. The same fee associated with the original course applies to retaking the course.

Prerequisite Pre-tests

Some courses require a pre-test as a condition of course admittance. If a prospective student fails a pre-test, he or she will be required to complete an online prerequisite course on the subject. If the student does not pass this online course, they shall be contacted by the Training Center Manager or Director to review the pre-test and prerequisite coursework and determine additional steps prior to enrollment.

Note: Retrofit Installer Technician failures will result in a conversation with either the Training Center Manager, Administrative Operations Manager or Training Center Director to determine needs before enrollment. Passing the online course is not a requirement for this course.

Building Performance Institute Exams

Candidates attempting Building Performance Institute (BPI) exams shall be governed by BPI’s retesting policy and re-testing is at the discretion of the Training Center’s availability. In most cases the Training Center will utilize the above re-testing policy.
