Community Housing Partners (CHP), a member of the National NeighborWorks network, has been awarded a $439,000 grant from NeighborWorks America. This funding is part of a broader $13.9 million investment that NeighborWorks America recently distributed to its national network of nearly 250 nonprofit organizations focused on solving the country’s housing affordability and supply crises.
The grant includes $204,000 in expendable funds that CHP will use to strengthen its organizational capacity and operations, along with $235,000 in capital funding to support real estate development and lending activities.
“With housing affordability under pressure across the country, this funding helps CHP remain nimble and mission-focused,” said Lance Sutherland, Chief Financial Officer at CHP. “It supports our ability to invest in long-term community viability so that more families and individuals can have a safe and stable place to call home. As we celebrate our 50th anniversary, this grant is a meaningful affirmation of the work we’ve done and the impact we’re continuing to make.”
NeighborWorks America is a congressionally chartered nonprofit organization that has worked for more than 45 years to improve access to affordable housing and promote neighborhood resilience.
“It is urgent that we invest these congressionally appropriated funds to address the housing supply shortage,” said NeighborWorks America President and CEO Marietta Rodriguez. “These investments in NeighborWorks homebuilders, housing counselors, and lenders make a difference in the lives of families all across the country.”
In fiscal year 2024, NeighborWorks and its network leveraged every federal dollar to generate $71 in additional public and private investment—fueling wide-ranging community impact. Network organizations like CHP helped 105,000 individuals and families through housing and financial counseling, created 16,300 new homeowners, owned and/or managed nearly 212,000 affordable rental homes, and contributed to the creation or maintenance of nearly 49,000 jobs.
