Community Housing Partners (CHP), which provides affordable and sustainable housing across the Southeast and Mid-Atlantic, has been named one of the 2022 Best Places to Work in Virginia. The annual list of the Best Places to Work in Virginia was created by Virginia Business magazine and the Best Companies Group.
This statewide survey and awards program is designed to identify, recognize, and honor the best places of employment in Virginia, benefiting the state’s economy, workforce, and businesses. The 2022 Best Places to Work in Virginia list is made up of 100 companies. This is the second year in a row that CHP has made the list, which ranked the organization No. 16 among large employers with more than 250 U.S. employees.
“We are honored that we not only made the list of best places to work in commonwealth a second time, but also moved up in the rankings,” said Laura Croft, Vice President of Human Capital. “At CHP, we have made it our priority to attract and retain a talented and diverse workforce and are constantly looking for ways to support and recognize our staff members.”
Companies from across the state entered the two-part survey process to determine the Best Places to Work in Virginia. The first part consisted of evaluating each nominated company’s workplace policies, practices, philosophy, systems, and demographics. This part of the process was worth approximately 25% of the total evaluation.
The second part consisted of an employee survey to measure the employee experience and was worth the remaining 75% of the total evaluation. The combined scores determined the top companies and the final ranking. Best Companies Group managed the overall registration and survey process in Virginia and analyzed the data and used its expertise to determine the final ranking, which were announced last week.
Founded in 1975 in Virginia’s New River Valley, CHP has corporate offices in Christiansburg, Virginia, and Richmond, Virginia, and owns and manages 85 apartment communities in the commonwealth. Employees deliver a wide range of services, including real estate development, energy conservation and training, asset management, property management, homeownership, and resident services.
In addition to being on the 2021 Best Places to Work in Virginia list, CHP was also named the best place to work in the nonprofit category by the Montgomery County Chamber of Commerce last year. Affordable Housing Finance magazine also named CHP among the top 50 affordable housing developers.
