Best Places to Work Digital BadgeCommunity Housing Partners (CHP), which provides affordable and sustainable housing across the Southeast and Mid-Atlantic, was recently named one of the 2021 Best Places to Work in Virginia. The annual list of the Best Places to Work in Virginia was created by Virginia Business magazine and Best Companies Group.

This statewide survey and awards program is designed to identify, recognize, and honor the best places of employment in Virginia, benefiting the state’s economy, workforce, and businesses. The 2021 Best Places to Work in Virginia list is made up of 100 companies. CHP ranked No. 17 among large employers with more than 250 U.S. employees.

“This is the first time that CHP has been ranked among the best places to work in the commonwealth, and we are more than thrilled to receive this honor,” said Laura Croft, Assistant Vice President of Human Capital. “We strive to be an employer of choice in all that we do and are constantly looking for new ways to support and recognize our team members.”

Companies from across the state entered the two-part survey process to determine the Best Places to Work in Virginia. The first part consisted of evaluating each nominated company’s workplace policies, practices, philosophy, systems, and demographics. This part of the process was worth approximately 25% of the overall evaluation.

The second part consisted of an employee survey to measure the employee experience and was worth the remaining 75% of the total evaluation. The combined scores determined the top companies and the final ranking. Best Companies Group managed the overall registration and survey process in Virginia and analyzed the data and used their expertise to determine the final rankings, which were announced at a virtual event on Jan. 29.

Founded in 1975 in Virginia’s New River Valley, CHP has corporate offices in Christiansburg, Virginia, and Richmond, Virginia, and owns and manages 85 apartment communities in the commonwealth. Employees deliver a wide range of services, including real estate development, energy conservation and training, asset management, property management, realty and homeownership, and resident services.

Although this is the first time that CHP has made the Best Places to Work in Virginia list, the organization is no stranger to recognition. Last year, CHP was named among the top 25 best places to work by the Montgomery County Chamber of Commerce and the top 50 affordable housing developers by Affordable Housing Finance magazine.
