Community Housing Partners (CHP), which provides affordable and sustainable housing throughout the Southeast and Mid-Atlantic, recently collaborated with Audubon Estates, the largest mobile home park in Northern Virginia, to connect residents with essential services. In a community of over 700 homes where more than 80% of residents speak Spanish, CHP Energy Solutions ensured accessibility by providing Spanish-speaking staff and resources, bridging language barriers to make the event a success.

The event brought together local partners, including United Community, Opportunity Neighborhood – Mount Vernon, the Virginia Poverty Law Center (VPLC), Energy Efficiency for All – Virginia, Fairfax County Supervisor Rodney Lusks’s Office, Fairfax County NCS – Hybla Valley Community Center, and Hometown America, the host and property management firm of Audubon Estates. These partners offered a range of services, from legal aid to energy efficiency resources. CHP’s initial goal was to have 50 residents approved for Energy Solutions programs, but the final count reached 70 approvals, surpassing expectations.

To streamline the process, CHP piloted a new intake approach using iPads to capture residents’ utility bills, expediting approvals for weatherization and utility programs. “We’re committed to helping communities in need and making it easier for them to access the energy-saving programs they rely on,” said Ethan Heslep, Director of Utility Programs at CHP Energy Solutions. “Events like this strengthen our connection with the community and reinforce our understanding of how our programs and services make a difference.”

Through CHP’s weatherization and utility-sponsored programs, residents will benefit from energy-saving upgrades like attic insulation, ductwork sealing, and LED lighting, with the potential for HVAC repairs to further reduce utility costs. CHP’s work at Audubon Estates is part of its broader mission to make sustainable housing accessible to everyone. Through these partnerships, CHP ensures that residents receive essential services and gain access to lasting energy-saving benefits.

Founded in 1975, Community Housing Partners (CHP) provides quality-built, responsibly managed, service-enriched homes for low-income individuals and families across the Southeast and Mid-Atlantic. CHP’s activities include real estate development, construction, energy services and training, asset management, property management, realty and homeownership, and comprehensive resident services.
