A new weatherization crew will support Community Housing Partners at the Energy Solutions Southern Virginia Field Operations Office, in South Hill, Virginia. The team was recruited in early 2022 after the four-county territory, previously serviced by Telamon Corporation, was acquired by CHP. The team is comprised of Wendy McRae, Administrative Assistant; Jamall Wilkins, Auditor/Quality Control Inspector; Jimmy Dews, Weatherization Crew Lead; and Willie Barner, Weatherization Technician.

“We are looking forward to working with our new SOVA territory clients, as well as becoming a part of the new communities we will be serving,” said Meghan McMillen, CHP Energy Solutions Director of Weatherization Programs and Services.  “We were fortunate to bring on four tenured employees from the previous agency,” she remarked.

Administrative Assistant, Wendy McRae, who has over ten years of weatherization experience, admires CHP’s mission of serving under privileged communities. “I look forward to working with an organization where their values align with my desire to help make a difference to the most vulnerable people in our neighborhoods,” McRae said.

Jamall Wilkins, Auditor/Quality Control Inspector, feels honored: “I like the friendly environment, the support that’s being offered, and the growth opportunity. I’m proud to be part of the team,” Wilkins remarked.

Recently the Southern Virginia team traveled to the CHP Christiansburg offices and met with the entire Energy Solutions team.  The crew turned in their older service vehicles and received new ones, along with a wide range of new equipment including diagnostic and testing equipment, PPE, computers, tablets, and cell phones.

CHP Energy Solutions has provided Weatherization Services since 1976. Through the federally funded Weatherization Assistance Program (WAP), CHP Energy Solutions reduces energy costs for income-qualifying households, while improving home health and safety improvements to the ventilation, insulation, and heating and cooling systems are just some of the energy savings measures that make a big difference in the efficiency, health, and safety of a house.

“We are excited to build on to their existing relationships with clients, vendors and community members,” said McMillen. The Energy Solutions Southern Virginia Field Operations Office is located at 120 W Danville Street in South Hill, Virginia, and will serve Nottoway, Lunenburg, Brunswick, and Mecklenburg counties.
