A long-time affordable housing professional and Vice President of Property Management at Community Housing Partners (CHP), Scott Reithel received the President’s Excellence Award from the National Affordable Housing Management Association (NAHMA) on March 7 at the organization’s annual winter meeting in Washington, D.C.

Reithel began his multifamily property management career more than three decades ago and has been a property management executive for several national and regional property management companies. His management experiences includes affordable and market-rate housing throughout the United States.

Reithel graduated from Roberts Wesleyan College in Rochester, New York, with a bachelor’s degree in sociology and social work, and he attended the University of New York at Albany studying towards his master’s in social work.

He has been a property management instructor with the Milwaukee Area Technical College (MATC) in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and is a guest lecturer at Virginia Tech. Reithel is active in NAHMA, of which he was past president. He was involved in the Midwest Affordable Housing Management Association where he was a three-time past president and a board of directors member. He also served as the vice president of the NAHMA Educational Foundation and is a certified member of the Institute of Real Estate Management (IREM).

Reithel has been received national recognition awards from the Eli Lily drug company and the National Mental Health Association, as well as the Milwaukee Ovation Award for his work in developing housing and programs for persons with mental illness. In addition, he has been recognized by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development for his work in the area of fair housing.

Reithel helps CHP deliver full-scale property management services that include rental services, green maintenance, asset management, and on-site resident services to the tenants of CHP communities. CHP’s portfolio includes over 100 rental communities across the eastern United States that serve families, individuals of low income and low wealth, seniors and persons with disabilities.
