Update: For the latest information about CHP’s response to COVID-19, please visit the COVID-19 Information page.

Community Housing Partners (CHP), which provides affordable and sustainable housing across the Southeast and Mid-Atlantic, is closely following the COVID-19 (coronavirus) situation and taking steps to protect the welfare of residents, clients, and employees.

In response to the emerging crisis, CHP has made the following operational changes:

  • All corporate and property offices have been closed. Employees are now working from home, and CHP is forwarding calls so that residents and partners can reach staff. Maintenance employees are only completing emergency work orders related to critical health and safety needs until the situation has been resolved.
  • All community centers, community rooms, and common spaces have been closed. Events hosted by CHP or outside partners have been canceled. CHP has communicated to residents and employees the importance of following “social distancing” recommendations, as well as CDC and health department guidelines.
  • All Energy Solutions field activities have been suspended. These include weatherization, Crisis Heating Assistance, Emergency Home and Accessibility Repair Program (EHARP), Home Repair, and subcontracted services.

CHP is also encouraging residents and employees to take measures to avoid the spread of illness. Please follow guidance and advice from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, as well as state and local health agencies. Everyone should prepare by taking simple precautions, like cleaning your hands often, avoiding close contact, staying home if you’re sick (except to get medical care), covering coughs and sneezes, wearing a facemask if you are sick, and cleaning and disinfecting surfaces.

The CHP Emergency Response team is meeting daily to monitor federal and state guidance regarding coronavirus and review policies and procedures to protect the health and safety of residents, clients, and employees at CHP. When updates become available, they will be posted at www.communityhousingpartners.org/covid19.

Want to help? CHP provides housing and services for over 2,700 low-income seniors or residents with special needs. These residents are vulnerable to COVID-19 and are currently not able to leave their homes. If you are able, please consider a monetary donation today and select “COVID-19 Response” from the dropdown menu.
