Energy Solutions Hosts 2019 Builders' Boot Camp
The Energy Solutions Research and Training Center welcomed 52 participants for the sixth annual CHP Builders’ Boot Camp. The event is an intensive, interactive, and collaborative learning workshop experience for construction industry professionals.
This year, the Builders’ Boot Camp took place at the Research and Training Center in Christiansburg, Virginia on Aug. 28-29. Held each fall, the Builders’ Boot Camp equips participants with the most current construction industry information and skills needed to maintain an edge in the business and provide the highest quality services.
This year featured nationally recognized trainers speaking on topics such as moisture diagnosis and promoting health through energy efficient upgrades. Speakers included Sam Myers, a marketing and training specialist for Retrotec; Joe Medosch, a healthy building scientist for Hayward Score and foundation of the Health Home Environment Association; Suzanne Harmelink, a professional with 20 years of experience in the design and management of residential energy efficiency programs; and Anthony Cox and Andrew Woodruff with CHP Energy Solutions.
For a third year in a row, the Builders' Boot Camp raised items for a cause. This year, participants were tasked with raising 500 books to support the CHP Reads! Summer Reading Program, which CHP launched this year to offset the “summer slide” in academic learning by offering books and reading opportunities.
