Disability Resource Fair Brings Service Providers, Disability Experts to Hopewell
Residents of Hopewell, Virginia, now have a better understanding of the resources available for disabled individuals and their caregivers thanks to a Disability Resource Fair sponsored by Community Housing Partners (CHP) and the Hopewell Redevelopment and Housing Authority.
Held at the Hopewell Library on Saturday, May 19, the event gave dozens of participants personal access to experts in the disability field.
“We had more than a dozen nonprofit organizations, government agencies, and corporations from the greater Richmond area participating in this event,” said Tiffany Little, Director of Operations at CHP Resident Services. “They had booths with information materials and staff on hand to speak with attendees.”
Participating organizations included CHP, the Crater Health District, Down Syndrome Association of Greater Richmond, Edward Jones Investments, the Grant DeCarlo Institute, the Greater Richmond Arc, Hopewell Department of Social Services, Prince George Department of Social Services, project:HOMES, Hopewell Redevelopment and Housing Authority, Resources for Independent Living, Virginia Department of Education – Special Education, and Virginia Relay.
Staff from CHP’s Property Management and Resident Services teams volunteered at the event. CHP has several apartment communities in the area, including The Summit and Kippax Place Apartments in Hopewell and Westover Commons in Petersburg, Virginia.
