Shout Out Program Recognizes Employee Excellence

2017 Shout Out Award Winners

Community Housing Partners (CHP) has long recognized the outstanding contributions of its employees, but this year it went a step further with the Shout Out program.

Replacing the Employee of the Year tradition, the Shout Out program recognizes excellence based on CHP’s core values of collaboration, innovation, integrity, quality, service, and sustainability. Throughout the year, CHP employees had an opportunity to recognize fellow team members for representing these values.

From more than 260 nominations, CHP honored employees who rose to the top in each of the six values at a Nov. 14. reception in the corporate office in Christiansburg, Virginia:

  • Collaboration: Serenity Wolf, Resident Services Coordinator at Kippax Place in Hopewell, Virginia, exemplified what it means to be a team player by never hesitating to take on a task to assist her residents or coworkers.
  • Innovation: Michael Christian, Maintenance Supervisor at Lafayette Square Apartments in Williamsburg, Virginia, discovered a cost-effective solution to fix a plumbing issue in 10 units, saving CHP a considerable sum.
  • Integrity: Cassie O’Bryant, Senior Compliance Specialist for Asset Management in Richmond, Virginia, went above and beyond her day-to-day job responsibilities to assist and train coworkers and volunteer her time to take on new challenges and solve problems.
  • Quality: Jamie Hilton, Weatherization Crew Lead for Energy Solutions in Christiansburg, Virginia, and Ricky Merrix, Weatherization Technician, have a steadfast commitment to “getting it right the first time” and were recently described by a client as “hard working, courteous, thorough, efficient, knowledgeable, and well skilled.”
  • Service: Danielle Clemons, Resident Services Coordinator at Primrose Place Apartments in Baltimore, Maryland, developed a special relationship with her residents and took considerable care when assisting them during renovations at Primrose Place and planning resident events.
  • Sustainability: Larry Parlo, Construction Project Manager for Construction Management in Christiansburg, Virginia, and Marcus Brown, Architect at the Community Design Studio, worked tirelessly to document and implement the EarthCraft requirements for the Tranquility at the Lakes project, which earned a platinum certification.

Expanding upon the success of the Shout Out program’s inaugural year, CHP hopes to raise the bar and gather even more nominations in 2018.
