Maintaining Quality Communities

With 100 rental communities in its property management portfolio, CHP was recognized this past spring as one of the 120 largest multifamily property management companies in the U.S. by the National Affordable Housing Management Association. While CHP owns the majority of apartment communities it manages, 13 properties with a combined total of 766 apartment units are owned by third-party entities.

“What some may not know is that CHP is also experienced in providing comprehensive property management on a fee-for-service basis to other owners across our service area footprint,” CHP Vice President of Property Management Scott Reithel remarked.

CHP in fact assumed management of two externally-owned rental communities in July: Great Laurels of Junaluska Apartments is a 100-unit affordable senior apartment community located in Waynesville, N.C. and Gerber Park in Asheville, N.C. comprises 120 units of affordable rental housing for seniors in Asheville, N.C. Both complexes are owned by Givens Estate.

Also new to CHP’s third-party management roster is Hollybrook Apartments in Richmond, Va. The 60-unit complex for disabled and senior residents is owned by St. Joseph’s Villa Housing Corporation.

“Givens Estates and St. Joseph’s Villa Housing Corporation are both highly-regarded nonprofit organizations with missions in close alignment with that of CHP’s. Our mutual commitment to improving the lives of underserved populations makes for natural partnerships that we anticipate will continue well into the future,” Reithel stated.

CHP has offered full-scale property management services for over 30 years, with a particular focus on serving individuals and families of low income and low wealth, as well as seniors and persons with disabilities. Its expansive expertise includes the lease-up, management, and maintenance of Low Income Housing Tax Credit, Section 8, Rural Development, and market-rate communities.

“Whether for our own residents or for those living in communities owned by other companies, CHP is committed to providing attractive and well-designed living environments that are desirable and affordable places to live,” said Reithel. “We constantly strive for the highest level of professionalism and excellence in all that we do to maximize resident safety and comfort while ensuring the most efficient and effective use of property owner resources.”
