Show & Tell: NRCERT's Open House Event

What better place to kick off National Energy Awareness month than at one of the most energy-aware places in the country? CHP’s Energy Solutions Research and Training Center (formerly New River Center for Energy Research and Training (NRCERT)) did just that when it hosted an open house event on October 5. There was plenty to celebrate, including NRCERT’s recent training of its 30,000th participant since its establishment in 1999 and the weatherization of our nation’s one-millionth home by the federal Weatherization Assistance Program since 2009. That’s a lot of energy saved!

NRCERT’s open house showcased its 12,600-square-foot training center and the many ways our expert trainers educate the energy conservation community. Over 70 guests toured the facility, getting a close-up view of its labs, diagnostic houses, and working examples of green living at the training center. Attendees also had an opportunity to watch demonstrations of the hands-on props used in classes at NRCERT and got a sneak peek at online courses being developed by the Media Technology Solutions team.
