Help for Those Trying to Navigate Maze of Homeownership
Christiansburg, Va. –Community Housing Partners (CHP) is pleased to announce the receipt of a $2,000 grant from the SunTrust Foundation for pre- and post-homeownership counseling and education activities for customers in central Virginia.
Said CHP’s Director of Homeownership, Kamilia Lawson, "Thanks to generous funding from the SunTrust Foundation, our homeownership department can help educate more individuals and families about the process of buying a home and how to maintain their purchase -- both financially and physically -- for the long term."
Since 1989, the Christiansburg-based nonprofit organization has provided homebuyers the convenience and ease of "one-stop shopping" by offering a team of homeownership professionals working within the same company to meet client needs. "Our counseling and education services enable moderate-income and first-time homebuyers to achieve the dream of successful homeownership," stated CHP housing counselor Schirra Hayes.
CHP’s free homebuyer courses include information on credit and personal finance, budgeting, qualifying for a home loan, negotiating a purchase, applying for a mortgage, loan closing, and home maintenance and repair.
