FAHE Headquarters in Berea, Kentucky

The Federation of Appalachian Housing Enterprises’ (Fahe) newest facility was designed and built by CHP in Berea, Kentucky to serve as the organization’s headquarters. Equipped with offices and meeting spaces for employees, member organizations, and partners, the environmentally-friendly structure is intended to visually and structurally represent Fahe’s commitment to providing families in Appalachia with affordable, energy-efficient housing.

The 2014 construction of the 14,451- square-feet building included a high-insulation building envelope consisting of Structural Insulated Panel (SIP) walls and roofs, Insulated Concrete Form walls, a high efficiency mechanical system, natural lighting, roof overhangs to minimize solar heat gain, and an overall healthy interior environment and indoor air quality.

The project is LEED registered and is being considered for certification by the U.S. Green Building Council.
