Greenstone on 5th Community Building in Charlottesville, Virginia

CHP's mission is to create affordable, green, sustainable housing opportunities and services for the people and communities we serve. Part of our mission is served by creating inviting and functional shared community spaces that foster positive neighborhood experiences.

In 2013, CHP designed and built a new community center for Greenstone on 5th Apartments in Charlottesville, Virginia, that houses a library, computer lab, tutoring programs for after school youth ages grades K-4, computer proficiency classes, financial and eviction prevention programs, and other activities for the residents.

The new community center is operated by a CHP Resident Services Coordinator, weekly volunteers and, of course, the residents of Greenstone on 5th.

The facility was built using sustainable building methods and materials, including solar panels to provide electricity.
